Compound 6 showed the strongest activity among the four diarylheptanoids (IC 50 : 10 μM), and it also inhibited the mRNA expression of tyrosinase, tyrosinase-related protein (TRP)-1 and TRP-2, as well as protein levels of microphthalmia-associated transcription factor (MITF) [52] . Compounds 2, 6, 15, 16, 47, and 48 were tested for their inhibitory effects on NO production in the LPS-activated macrophage cell line RAW 264.7 [15] . Thus, the reports cited above suggest that diarylheptanoids possess inhibitory effects against inflammatory and tumor-promoting activities.
