Based on a bootscan analysis of the complete genome of the 3 HCoV-OC43s belonging to the circulating genotypes B, C, and D, it was assumed that a hot spot was likely located between the nsp12 and S genes, more precisely at the nsp12/nsp13 junction. This study focuses on the sequences of the nsp12, S, and N genes of 15 HCoV-OC43s detected in respiratory specimens sampled from 2001 to 2013.
