"Learning is difficult in the midst of an emergency" [7] , but our ability to deliver timely, high-impact clinical research, relevant to patients and populations, is critical across the academic spectrum [8] , from "bench to bedside to big data", whether basic biology, repurposed and novel therapeutic approaches, vaccines or modelling.
