Discovery of a Bovine Enterovirus in Alpaca	2013-08-12		.txt	text/plain	4596	214	51	A cytopathic virus was isolated using Madin-Darby bovine kidney (MDBK) cells from lung tissue of alpaca that died of a severe respiratory infection. To identify the virus, the infected cell culture supernatant was enriched for virus particles and a generic, PCR-based method was used to amplify potential viral sequences. The new alpaca virus sequence was most similar to recently designated Enterovirus species F, previously bovine enterovirus (BEVs), viruses that are globally prevalent in cattle, although they appear not to cause significant disease. Analysis of the full polyprotein and the individual capsid, 2A protease, 3C protease, and polymerase proteins of the alpaca-infecting virus relative to sequences of other representative enteroviruses from bovine EV-E (BEV-A serotypes 1-4) and EV-F (BEV-B serotypes 1-4), and sequences from three unclassified EV-F viruses [16] , two from bovine sources (AY724744 and AY724745) [20] , and one from a capped langur (JX538037) [21] , possum, porcine (PEV), and human (HEV) hosts.	./cache/cord-273343-als886fe.txt	./txt/cord-273343-als886fe.txt
