We estimated the initial reproduction number from 497 suspect cases identified prior to 20 April, using a novel contact network methodology incorporating dates of symptom onset and hospitalization, variation in contact rates, extrinsic sociological factors, and uncertainties in underreporting and disease progression. Using the time series of the first 497 suspect cases, we have estimated the initial rate of spread -the reproduction number R -of pandemic (H1N1) 2009, using methods of contact network epidemiology that incorporates extrinsic sociological drivers and uncertainties in disease progression and underreporting. ./cache/cord-332057-1vvlzuue.txt ./txt/cord-332057-1vvlzuue.txt
