The newborn tested positive at 12 hours of life for COVID-19 by real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) of the tracheal aspirate sample [9] . The authors in one review reported 179 cases of newborns tested positive at birth, whose mothers were infected in the third trimester of pregnancy [5] . The authors of one study described that three newborns born to mothers with COVID-19 infection had positive antibodies (IgM and IgG) at birth [7, 8] . In the present report, the index newborn was tested positive at 12 hours of life without any features of symptomatic COVID-19 infection [9] .
