The main objective of this study was to detect the presence of 8 respiratory viruses (Influenza-A, Influenza-B, RSV-A, RSV-B, Adenovirus, Parainfluenza-1, Parainfluenza-2 and Parainfluenza-3) and atypical bacteria (Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Chlamydia pneumonia), via Polymerase Chain Reaction in samples from Peruvian children under 5 years-old previously analyzed for B. Demonstrating the high prevalence of these atypical bacteria among Peruvian children with ARIs. Our results from this current study also make noteworthy that clinical manifestations by Mycoplasma pneumoniae and Flu-B, ADV, or B.
