Moreover, oral passive immunization using chicken IgY raised against the PEDV S1 protein was found to control and prevent PED post-challenge in suckling piglets. All neonatal piglets except for animals in the control group were inoculated orally with 1 ml of the small-intestine homogenate containing 10 4 TCID 50 /ml PEDV field virus determined using real-time RT-PCR as described previously [10] .
