Scott Charney, one of the nation’s foremost experts in computer crime, will speak at the University of Notre Dame at 4:15 p.m. Feb. 25 (Monday).p. Titled “Cybercrime: Challenges and Controversies,” Charney’s presentation will take place in Room 102 of DeBartolo Hall.p. Charney is a partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he is the head of corporate security. He is leaving that post April 1 to become chief of security strategy at Microsoft Corp.p. A one-time member of the Justice Department’s Organized Crime and Racketeering Section, Charney led the implementation of the department’s Computer Crime Initiative. As a part of this initiative, the Justice Department created a dedicated computer crime unit consisting of five federal prosecutors and led by Charney.p. Charney’s visit to Notre Dame is being sponsored by the Reilly Center for Science, Technology, and Values; the Computer Applications Program of the College of Arts and Letters; the Kellogg Institute for International Studies; and the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. p.
