The presentation is free and open to the public. With federal No Child Left Behind legislation up for renewal this year, the accountability initiatives the law demands are currently being evaluated. Rouses research focuses on labor economics with a particular emphasis on the economics of education. She plans to discuss not only the effect of accountability testing on schools, but also the effect of education on society as a whole. Rouse serves as director of the Industrial Relations and Education Research Sections at Princeton and earned her doctoral degree atHarvardUniversity. Her current research includes studies ofFloridas school accountability system and an evaluation of computer use in education. The Provost’s Distinguished Women’s Lecture Series encourages innovative forms of interaction between highly regarded women visitors and Notre Dame faculty, students and administration.
