John Scott, author and professor emeritus at the University of Western Australia, will present a lecture titled “Dante ? Time and Eternity” at 4:45 p.m. Thursday (April 26) in Room 102 of the Hesburgh Library at the University of Notre Dame. p. The lecture, sponsored by Notre Dame’s Devers Program in Dante Studies, is free and open to the public and will conclude with a reception in the same location. p. Scott has published numerous works on Dante and Italian literature from the middle ages to the modern period, including “Dante’s Political Purgatory.” p. The Devers Program in Dante Studies was established in 1995 with a $1- million endowment gift from William and Katherine Devers. In addition to sponsoring an annual lecture series, the Devers program funds rare book acquisitions in the University’s historic Dante collection and supports print and electronic publication of scholarly research in the field of Italian studies. p.
