A 1977 Notre Dame alumnus, Donnelly was graduated from the Notre Dame Law School in 1981.Elected to Congress in 2006, he is a member of theBlue Dogcoalition of Democrats who occasionally break ranks with their partys stands on economic and social issues.A public opponent of abortion, he also opposes federal funding of stem-cell research which uses human embryos.
