          Katherine Beirne, a University of Notre Dame senior from Rocky River, Ohio, is one of 38 Marshall Scholarship winners nationwide for 1998, the British government announced this week. She was chosen from among more than 800 candidates from 200 colleges and universities to receive one of the most competitive and prestigious merit scholarships available to undergraduates.p.
