p. p. The ability of government prosecutors to “keep it simple” was vital to winning a guilty verdict today against Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh, says Jimmy Gurule, professor of law at Notre Dame.

p. “Despite the enormity of the crime, this was a pretty straightforward case,” said Gurule, formerly a federal prosecutor in Los Angeles. “There was motive, there were admissions of accomplices, and there was physical evidence. It all came down to the credibility of those coconspirators and the forensic evidence. That’s pretty basic.”p. Gurule can be reached for further comment at (219) 631-5917 .
