The conference is the first to be sponsored by the University’s new Program in American Democracy, which provides an academic forum to explore the quality of the democratic process in this country. As exemplified by its inaugural conference, the program is particularly interested in the process and problems of America’s political institutions as they relate to the inclusion of a socially diverse population.p.
