Brown From café lattes to giant slaloms, a team of MBA students from the University of Notre Dame demonstrated all-around excellence in a unique case competition held this month inColorado. The students from Notre Dames Mendoza College of Business took first place in the Daniels College Race and Case competition Feb. 12 at theCopperMountainresort 75 miles west ofDenver. Sponsored by theUniversityofDenvers Daniels College of Business, the event combined an ethics case competition with a downhill ski race. Second-year MBAs Sybil Carrade, John Eklund, Rob George, Frank German, Julia Kropp and Kevin Parker won the case competition, which consisted of an analysis of the global coffee crisis and associated ethical and financial challenges encountered by Peets Coffee&Tea, a specialty coffee supplier. In the ski racing competition, Notre Dame finished second toDenveras a team, and Carrade was the womens individual winner. Georges Enderle, Arthur and Mary ONeil Professor of International Business Ethics, assisted the Notre Dame team with its preparations. Other teams came from the Universities of Pittsburgh andVirginia, and Brigham Young, Carnegie Mellon, George Washington,PennStateandYaleUniversities.
