The event closed Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on campus while kicking off a week of events designed to foster dialogue and reflection on making Notre Dame a more inclusive community.   Speakers encouraged faculty, staff and students in attendance to consider the example of Dr. King in their everyday lives. “Let us ask that we can be a better, stronger, more respectful, loving community here at Notre Dame,” said University president Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C., in a prayer to open the service. Attendees marched with candles in hand to the Sacred Heart statue on Main Quad to conclude the service.
