Gilroy A new book titled “The Irish Face in America” includes profiles of six individuals associated with the University of Notre Dame.p. The coffee-table-style book attempts to capture the richness and heritage of the Irish-American experience through color portraits and personal accounts from a cross section of Irish Americans. The profiles are divided into sections related to culture and entertainment, public service, success and generations.p. Donald R. Keough, a life trustee and former chair of Notre Dames Board of Trustees, the chairman of the board of Allen&Company Inc., and former president and chief operating officer of the Coca-Cola Company, wrote the essay introducing the section on success. Profiled in the success section are Notre Dame President Rev. Edward A. Malloy, C.S.C.; Michael O. Garvey, an assistant director of news and information at the University; and Sean Milligan, a former Notre Dame student-athlete.p. John Dearie, a Notre Dame alumnus who co-hosts a weekly Irish-American radio show in New York City, is profiled in the culture and entertainment section, and Maureen Mulvaney, a senior from Danville, Ill., is featured in the generations section of the book.p. “The Irish Face in America” is edited by Julia McNamara, with photos by Jim Smith, and is published by Bulfinch Press.p.
