MacCormack, recently-appointed concurrent professor of history and classics at the University of Notre Dame, has been named The Reverend Theodore M. Hesburgh, C.S.C., Professor of Arts and Letters.p. Formerly a professor of classical studies and history at the University of Michigan, MacCormack received the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation’s new Distinguished Achievements Award for scholars in the humanities. As one of five award recipients, MacCormack received $1.5 million to pursue her work in the humanities. The award is for three years and will underwrite her salary, research assistance and expenses, and opportunities for Notre Dame to enhance its humanities curriculum.p.
