Garvey A panel discussion on government regulation of traditional and same-sex unions will be held Wednesday (Feb. 25) at 6 p.m. in the auditorium of the Eck Visitors Center.p. The discussion, entitled “The Future of Marriage: Should Sexual Orientation Matter? Is Marriage the Government’s Business?” is sponsored by the Notre Dame Journal of Law, Ethics and Public Policy and the Thomas White Center on Law and Government. Panelists will be Alan Sears, president, chief executive officer and general counsel of the Alliance Defense Fund and coauthor of “The Homosexual Agenda: Exposing the Principal Threat to Religious Freedom Today”; Andrew Koppelman, professor of law and political science at Northwestern University Law School and author of a recent article on “Why Discrimination Against Lesbians and Gay Men Is Sex Discrimination”; and Paul Griffiths, Arthur J. Schmitt Professor of Catholic Studies at the University of Illinois-Chicago and author of a recent article entitled ?Legalize Same Sex Marriage: Why Law and Morality Can Part Company." The discussion will be moderated by Gerard V. Bradley, professor of law at Notre Dame and coauthor of a recent article on “Marriage and the Liberal Imagination.” The discussion is free and open to the public and will be followed by a reception.
