Democracy Fund board O’Donnell named to U.N. Democracy Fund board Published: February 14, 2006 Author: Tim Masterton Guillermo ODonnell, the Helen Kellogg Chair in Political Science at the University of Notre Dame, has been appointed to the advisory board of the newly created United Nations Democracy Fund (UNDEF). ODonnell is one of only three members individually designated to the board, as appointed by the secretary general.The board consists of the representatives of 11 U.N. member states and two non-governmental organizations associated with the United Nations, as well as three individually appointed members. UNDEF was established in 2005 to promote the creation and strengthening of democratic institutions throughout the world.Its policy guidelines will be set at the boards first meeting in March. ODonnell, the recipient of numerous honors and awards, also recently received the International Political Science Associations Prize for Lifetime Achievement.
