Brown as its first director.p. Brown will focus on furthering diversity initiatives at Notre Dame, particularly with regard to faculty hiring. Her office also will handle discrimination and gender equity matters and house the University’s three ombudspersons for sexual harassment and racial and other discriminatory behavior.p. Prior to her appointment at Notre Dame, Brown served for eight years as the affirmative action officer at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass. She also was assistant to the president in her last six years there.p. A graduate of Albright College in Reading, Pa., Brown returned to her alma mater in 1989 to serve for four years in several capacities, including assistant director of admissions, interim dean of students and assistant to the president. She also was a lecturer in political science.p. Brown earned her law degree from the Washington College of Law at American University. She spent three years in the Alexandria, Va., law firm of Moffitt&Jones and two years as a legislative analyst in the Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs for the District of Columbia.p. Among her community activities, Brown served in a gubernatorial appointment as cochair of the African-American Advisory Commission of Massachusetts.
