Gilroy The 13 th annual American Cancer Society Great Lakes Symposium will be held Friday (Oct. 7) from9 a.m.until4 p.m.at the University of Notre Dames McKenna Hall. TitledCellular and Molecular Mechanisms of Cancer,the symposium is free and open to the public. George Vande Woude, director of the Van Andel Cancer Center in Grand Rapids, Mich.,and a member of the National Academy of Sciences, will deliver the keynote address:Thirty Years in Cancer Research: Where is the Cure?Vande Woude also will deliver the annual Coleman Foundation lecture, titledHGF/SF-Met and Human Malignancy,at4 p.m.Thursday (Oct. 6) in Room 283 of the Galvin Life Science Center. Closing remarks will be offered by Martin Tenniswood, Coleman Professor of Cancer Biology at Notre Dame; Harmon Eyre, executive vice president for research and medical affairs for the American Cancer Society; and Thomas Burish, Notre Dames provost and chairman of the board of directors for the American Cancer Society.
