          Two Japanese research groups have confirmed independently a bold prediction made by a University of Notre Dame physicist and his Arizona State University colleague, that a material commonly thought to be an insulator would prove to superconduct when synthesized properly. This is believed to be the first time that a high temperature superconducting material has been successfully predicted by theory.p.
