Titled “Bigger Monster, Weaker Chains: The Growth of an American Surveillance Society,” the talk will be based on a report that the ACLU released in mid-January.p. Steinhardt has served as associate director for the past 10 years and recently was named inaugural director of the ACLU’s Program on Technology and Liberty. He was cofounder of the Global Internet Liberty Company, the world’s first international coalition of non-governmental organizations concerned with the rights of Internet users to privacy and free expression. He is a member of the advisory committee to the Conference of State Legislatures and was a member of the U.S. delegation to the recent G-8 conference on cyber crime.p.
