          Sen. Richard G. Lugar, R-Ind., chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, will be the principal speaker and the recipient of an honorary doctor of laws degree at the University of Notre Dame’s 158th Commencement exercises May 18 (Sunday). The ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. in the Joyce Center on campus.p. “Throughout his long and distinguished career, Sen. Lugar has demonstrated extraordinary leadership on the international, national and statewide stages,” said Rev. Edward A. Malloy, C.S.C., Notre Dame’s president. "At a time when American foreign policy is going in dramatic new directions, we believe his vast experience in the field will be of particular interest to our graduates and their families.p.
