Titled “HIV and AIDS in the Twenty-first Century: Life, Death and Black Politics,” the presentation is part of the Provost’s Distinguished Women’s Lecture Series and is free and open to the public.p. A professor of political science and African-American studies, Cohen is the author of “The Boundaries of Blackness: AIDS and the Breakdown of Black Politics,” which was selected as the best book on race relations and public policy in 1999 by the American Political Science Association. It also was listed as one of the top 10 African-American nonfiction books and one of the top 100 African-American books of the century.p. The Provost’s Distinguished Women’s Lecture Series encourages innovative forms of interaction between highly regarded women visitors and Notre Dame faculty, students and administrators.
