Schafer, Coleman Assistant Professor of Cancer Biology at the University of Notre Dame, has been awarded a Research Scholar Grant from the American Cancer Society (ACS). “This award would not have been possible if not for the tremendous mentorship I have received from senior faculty in the Department of Biological Sciences and the opportunity to build my research program amongst numerous gifted and passionate scientists here at Notre Dame.” Schafer pointed out that the overwhelming majority of cancer deaths are caused by cancer cells spreading from the site of the primary tumor to more distant sites, a process known as metastasis.	cache/news-006094.html	txt/news-006094.txt
