AUP 

Correspondence, minutes, meeting material, subject files, and publications. Principal correspondents include the chapter's presidents and secretaries, national AAUP officers, and Notre Dame administrators. 

The local chapter was founded in 1945, as an affiliate of the national AAUP, for the purpose of "facilitating a more effective cooperation among teachers" and promoting "the standards, ideals, and welfare of the profession." The chapter's activities include researching and publishing reports on faculty compensation, academic freedom, and tenure; offering advice to Notre Dame administration on academic, administrative, and disciplinary matters; and publishing a newsletter.
